ECH Welcomes New Board Trustees

ECH welcomes its newest trustees to its Board. As volunteers and passionate ambassadors, our board of trustees share their diverse skills and experiences to help bring the hospital’s mission and vision to life.  Pictured left to right: Alan Jones, William Tansey, Walt Lender and Lynne Reale, RN, BA


Elizabethtown Community Hospital has announced Alan Jones, C. Walter Lender, Lynne Reale, RN, BA and William Tansey as the newest appointees to its Board of Trustees. All trustees serve a three-year term.

Board Chair Sue Allott said “The commitment to caring for and helping others demonstrated by these four individuals will be a tremendous asset to the Elizabethtown Community Hospital Board of Trustees and our community as a whole.”

Alan Jones
Alan Jones has worked for Adirondack Community Action Programs for more than 20 years, the past 15 as its Executive Director and CEO.  He has served the community in many volunteer capacities such as board member for the Elizabethtown/Lewis Central School District, Bouquet Valley Central School District Elizabethtown/Lewis Chamber of Commerce, NYS Community Action Association, NYS Early Care & Learning Council.  He also serves on the NYS Department of State Advisory Council and BRIEF (Building Resilience in Essex Families).

C. Walter Lender
A life-long Lake George resident, Walt Lender has more than 34 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector.  He served as Executive Director of the Lake George Association for nearly 18 years focusing on conservation and preservation of Lake George and its watershed.  Lender has been an active leader in the community serving on many volunteer boards and committees and has been active in local economic development, planning, and historic preservation efforts.  Most recently he joined Silver Bay YMCA as Vice President for Development and Government Relations.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Administration from Saint Michael’s College and a BA from Hartwick College.

Lynne Reale, RN, BA
After graduating from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing in 1979, Lynne Reale began her career as a Registered Nurse in Ticonderoga at Moses Ludington Hospital and Adirondack Family Practice. Always committed to quality in health care, she held various patient care and management roles also serving as a nursing instructor for North Country Community College.  Now retired from nursing, Lynn is a small business owner and an active member of the Medical Reserve Corps of Essex County and has spent many days volunteering at Covid vaccine clinics.    

William Tansey
Before moving to the Essex County Attorney Office in 2022, William Tansey formed the Whitson & Tansey Law Firm in Elizabethtown and also worked in the Essex County Public Defender’s Office. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served on a frigate in Yokosuka, Japan; an aircraft carrier stationed in Bremerton, Washington; and as a Surface Warfare Instructor in Newport, Rhode Island. Following his tours of duty, Mr. Tansey earned his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law. He then returned to the United States Navy as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corp and Staff Judge Advocate where he twice deployed overseas.

Bob Ortmyer, president of Elizabethtown Community Hospital, said, “I’m thrilled to welcome this group of outstanding people to the hospital’s Board of Trustees. Their enthusiasm and diverse backgrounds and expertise will help to further our mission; improving the lives of our friends, families and neighbors in the communities we serve.”
