Hospital Auxiliary Hosts Virtual Race to Benefit ECH
Elizabethtown, NY – The 41st Annual Doc Lopez Run for Health kicks off this Saturday, March 20, 2021 and runs through Sunday, March 28, 2021. Proceeds from the virtual event benefit the University of Vermont Health Network – Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer organization that has raised over $100,000 in recent years to enhance the patient experience at Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
Participants can register for a 5K or half marathon and complete their race in the location of their choosing on any day during the race window.
“While we all look forward to the return of in-person races, the unique nature of this year’s race providers runners with the flexibility to run on their own time, at their own pace, and on their favorite course, all while supporting the health care heroes at Elizabethtown Community Hospital,” said race director Susan Allott.
Runners can register at http://www.DocLopezRun.com or https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Elizabethtown/DocLopezRunforHealth
No official timing is necessary for virtual participants, but race organizers encourage participants to share photos and stories on social media tagging @ElizabethtownCommunityHospital and using the hashtag #DOCLOPEZRUNFORHEALTH.
The cost to register is $50 for the half marathon and $30 for the 5k race. Runners who register by March 20, 2021 will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and winter hat, and a discount for the 2022 in-person event.
The Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary thanks this year’s race sponsors: The Kinney Drugs Foundation/ProAct, Fust Chambers Charles LLP, Champlain National Bank, Lake Placid Sports Medicine, Elderwood at Ticonderoga and William J. Murray, Inc. “We are deeply grateful for the continued support the local community has shown ECH’s staff and patients during this difficult year,” said Laura Sells-Doyle, president of the Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary.
