Elizabethtown Community Hospital and Hudson Headwaters partner with Essex County Health Department to offer Covid-19 vaccine to kids, ages 5-11

Elizabethtown, NY – The University of Vermont Health Network - Elizabethtown Community Hospital and Hudson Headwaters Health Network are working with Essex County Health Department to make the Pfizer pediatric COVID-19 vaccine available to children between five and eleven years old. Parents can schedule an appointment for children to receive their first dose at drive-through or walk-in clinics, or at local pharmacies or health centers.

“The Pfizer pediatric COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and it’s the best way to protect our kids from severe illness and hospitalization,” said Michael Celotti, D.O., pediatrician for both Elizabethtown Community Hospital and Hudson Headwaters Health Network. “Thanks to this partnership, parents can choose the most convenient time and location to get their children vaccinated.”

“We encourage all community members and patients to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible,” said William Borgos, M.D., chief medical officer at Hudson Headwaters Health Network. “Unfortunately, COVID rates continue to be very high in our region and community members continue to be hospitalized. With the holidays approaching, the best thing we can do to protect those we love is to get vaccinated.”

On November 11, Essex County Health Department reported a total of 2,885 cases since the pandemic began, and a current testing percent positivity rate of 6%. To date, there have been over 400 cases in school-aged children in Essex County.

Upcoming Drive-through Clinics in Essex County

There are three more clinic opportunities across Essex County to get your child vaccinated before the holidays, and you can always schedule an appointment at your local pharmacy or with your pediatrician.”
